Entrevista; BITE THE BULLET a la conquista de nuestras tierras a base de buen rock!

De la mano de Lestrato, la banda danesa BITE THE BULLET regresan a nuestro país, de hecho ya están en nuestras tierras, para presentar su nueva obra discográfica "Can Be Anything". Nuestro compañero Alejandro Díaz habla con la banda para intentar acercarnos un poco más a estos equilibristas del rock, que aúnan blues rock psicodélico con rock de aire británico de los 70, rock escandinavo... son puro rock n roll

"Can Be Anything", tercer álbum de estudio, un nuevo giro en vuestro sonido. ¿Cómo ha sido el proceso de grabación?
Sí, un nuevo giro, un poco diferente, pero todavía suena a nosotros. Nos gusta seguir evolucionando como músicos, así que queríamos que este álbum nos desafiara, trajera algo nuevo con él, y no sonara como los dos primeros. Fue una gran experiencia, y estamos muy contentos con Can Be Anything.
El proceso de grabación fue muy bien. Lo hicimos con nuestro productor Soren Christensen, y queríamos traer más claves al principio del proceso de escritura, abrir el campo de juego y desafiar la dinámica natural entre guitarra y bajo que hay en nuestra banda, e intentar algo nuevo.

Después de escuchar "Can Be Anything" me vino a la mente rápidamente Tame Impala y The Black Keys. En vuestro anterior disco "Wheels" era un sonido para garaje. ¿Cuales son las influencias de la banda y no os importa no tener un estilo fijo? Es decir, canción que gusta, canción que se graba.
Tame Impala y Black Keys son bandas que nos inspiran a seguir probando cosas nuevas. Pero ninguno de ellos nos ha inspirado musicalmente para este álbum. Las inspiraciones para este álbum provienen de la escritura con amigos, de la necesidad de probar cosas nuevas y la alegría de hacer algo nuevo. Queremos seguir siendo curiosos sobre lo que queremos y cómo sonamos. No tenemos necesidad de tener un sonido fijo, nos gusta jugar con diferentes estilos, y escribir con una caja de herramientas abierta.

Vuestras canciones respiran alegría y ser positivos, ¿qué es lo primero que pensáis en el momento de escribirlas letras de "Can Be Anything"?
Realmente feliz de que consigas ese sentimiento, la energía positiva es todo para este álbum. Son canciones que hablan sobre cosas que no siempre son fáciles, pero vale la pena mirar de una manera positiva, y la alegría que trae.

¿"Can Be Anything" es un mensaje para el fan que espera escuchar otro disco idéntico al anterior?
Bueno, seguimos siendo una banda de rock, todavía tenemos bajo, guitarra y batería, solo queremos probar cosas nuevas, desafiarnos unos a otros, quizás aprender una cosa o dos. Es más divertido pasar por la vida no hacer lo mismo todo el tiempo. Eso es.

Se siguen manteniendo esas influencias de psicodelia, rock y ritmos pop. Todo esto junto a sintetizadores da como resultado, "Can Be Anything". ¿Qué respuesta tiene vuestro público más clásico que quizás espera algo más rock?
Bueno, no sabemos ¡Esperamos que reconozcan la alegría y la sensación que ponemos en este álbum!

Vuestro álbum "Wheels" fue un éxito en todas las reviews, ¿cómo está funcionando "Can Be Anything"?
Muy bien, parece que entienden lo que estamos haciendo. Y realmente apreciamos eso.

La portada de este nuevo trabajo es sorprendente y muy diferente si miramos la de "Wheels" por ejemplo. ¿Cómo fue la idea de poner un helado y qué queréis decir con ello?
Piensa en nuestro nombre Bite The Bullet, e intente imaginar el helado como una bala que ha tomado un bocado. Fue una idea divertida y estamos entusiasmados con el resultado.

¿Cómo está siendo el camino de la banda para ir escalando posiciones en la escena musical en Europa?
Está yendo de la manera correcta, no rápida pero de manera correcta. Tenemos más información en la radio, más gente nos está apoyando, y creativamente la banda está en llamas. Así que tenemos confianza en nuestro desarrollo y las direcciones que vamos!

El año pasado ya estuvisteis por España de gira, ¿cómo recordáis aquella gira y qué esperáis de esta?
Fue una gran experiencia tocar aquí, sólo queríamos volver tan pronto como fue posible!
Uno de los muchos puntos álgidos de la gira fue tocar nuestro último show en El Gran Café de León, donde la cerveza salvaje se mezclaba con la audiencia, y terminamos en un círculo delante del escenario, todo el mundo sudando y bailando, sólo quería más, y todo fue en un domingo! Estas personas que todavía querían fiesta, disfrutar aunque el día siguiente era un lunes, nos dieron un gran final a un fantástico tour!
Esperamos muchas nuevas aventuras, amigos y buenas vibraciones. Mirando tanto hacia adelante.

Y por último, para la gente de España y de otros países que vean la entrevista, ¿cómo se define Bite The Bullet y cómo sois en directo para los que aún no os han visto?
Bite The Bullet, así como dice nuestro título del álbum "Puede ser cualquier cosa". Hemos preparado un show muy rockero para esta gira. Hay un montón de cosas nuevas y un montón de las viejas también. Una buena mezcla de energía cruda, tambores de grooving apretados, baile, sudor, y podríamos poner un solo largo aquí y allí. Así que la gente puede esperar un verdadero show de rock'n'roll.

Gracias, estamos realmente deseando volver. La gente era tan amable y abierta a nuestra música, y nosotros, así que estamos contando los días!

Entrevista: Alejandro Díaz

- Third studio album, a new twist in your sound. How was the recording process?
Yeah, a new twist, a bit different but still us. We like to keep evolving as musicians, so we wanted this album to challenge us, bring something new with it, and not sound like the first two ones. It was a great experience, and we`re really happy with Can Be Anything.
The recording process went really well. We did it with our producer Soren Christensen, and we wanted to bring in more keys early in the writing process, to open the playing field and challenge the natural dynamics between guitar and bass there is in our band, and to try something new.

- After listening to "Can Be Anything", I quickly thought Tame Impala and The Black Keys. In your previous album "Wheels", it was a sound more garage rock. Who are the influences and do not mind not having a fixed style? That is, song that you like, song that is recorded.
Both Tame Impala and Black Keys are bands that inspire us to keep trying out new things. But that said, none of them have inspired us musically for this album. The inspirations for this album comes from writing with friends, from the need of trying new things and joy of doing something new. We want to keep being curious about what we want and how we sound. We don’t have a need to have a fixed sound, we like playing different styles, and writing with an open tool box.

- Your songs breathe joy and be positive, what is the first thing you think at the moment of writing the lyrics of "Can Be Anything"?
Real glad that you get that feeling, positive energy is everything for this album.
It’s songs about things that are not always easy, but worth looking at in a positive way, and the joy that it brings.

- "Can Be Anything" is a message for the fan that expects to hear another album identical to the previous one?
Well, we’re still a rockband, still have bass, guitar and drums, we just want to try new things, challenge each other, maybe learn a thing or two. It’s more fun going through life not doing the same thing all the time. That’s

All those psychedelic influences, rock and pop rhythms are in all the songs. All of this together with synthesizers results in "Can Be Anything". Your most classic audience, what do they think if they expect something more classic rock?
Well, we don’t know We hope they recognize the joy and feel we put into this album!

- Your album "Wheels" was a hit in all reviews, how is "Can Be Anything" working?
Pretty good, it seems like they understand what we’re doing. And we really appreciate that.

- The cover of this new album is surprising and very different if we look at the cover of "Wheels" for example. How was the idea of putting an ice cream and what do you mean?
Think of our name Bite The Bullet, and try imagine the ice cream as an bullet who’s taken a bite of. It was a fun idea and we are stoked about the result.

- How is being the road of Bite The Bullet to climb positions in the music scene in Europe?
It’s going the right way, not fast but diffidently the right way. We’ve got more airplay on the radio, more people are supporting us, and creatively the band is on fire. So we have confidence in our development and the directions we’re going!

- Last year you were in Spain on tour, how do you remember that tour and what do you expect from this one?
It was such a great experience playing here, we just had to get back as soon as possible!
One of the many high points on the tour, was playing our last show at El Gran Café in Leon, where a wild energy got brewing with the audience, and we ended up in a circle in front of the stage, everybody sweating and dancing, just wanting more, and it was all on a Sunday! These people who still wanted to party, enjoy themselves even though the next day was a Monday, they gave us a great end to a fantastic tour!
We expect a lot of new adventures, friends and good vibes. Looking so much forward to it

- And finally, for the people of Spain and other countries who see the interview, how do you define Bite The Bullet and how is your show for those who have not yet seen you? Thank you very much for your time. See you on your tour.
Bite The Bullet, well as our album title says, Bite The Bullet- Can be anything. We have put a really rocking show together for this tour. There’s a lot of the new stuff and a lot of the old as well. A good mix of raw energy, tight grooving drums, dancing, sweating, and we might put a long solo in here and there. So people can expect a real rock’n’roll show. Thank you, we`re really looking forward to returning. People were so kind and open to our music, and us, so we´re counting down the days!
