THE HU: Entrevista con los creadores de Hunnu Rock
Hace poco hablábamos de la banda The Hu, procedente de la lejana Mongolia, que está asentando un nuevo tipo de metal y rock basado en el folk de su país y que, junto a otras bandas, están expandiendo sus nuevos ritmos por el mundo. Hoy hablamos con ellos sobre su música y sus proyectos de futuro, entre los que nos revelan algunos detalles de su álbum debut.
The Hu se ha convertido en un verdadero fenómeno internacional, ¿Cuál es vuestro secreto?
No hay secreto. Creemos que el mundo estaba ya listo para la música diferente y original en estos días.
Vuestro proyecto incluye una sorprendente mezcla de tradición y modernidad con una estética muy atractiva. ¿Cómo nació este proyecto?
Tanto nosotros como nuestro productor, Dashka, investigamos la historia, música, poesía e instrumentos mongoles antiguos. Se casó lo tradicional con lo moderno para crear este sonido y aspecto único de Hunnu Rock que se ha convertido en la banda The HU.
En realidad, parece que ha surgido un renacimiento de la tradición en todo el mundo y especialmente en Asia, ¿no es así?
Sí, lo es.
He escuchado sobre algunos festivales en China sobre música mongol con un éxito muy sorprendente, ¿verdad?
En los últimos años hay muchas bandas de rock mongoles que salen de Mongolia Interior. Han tenido mucho éxito no solo en China sino en todo el mundo.
¿Cómo de importante es la historia y, especialmente la historia de la gente de Hunnu, para vuestra música?
La gente Hunnu, también conocida como los hunos, es una parte muy importante de nuestra historia. Por eso llamamos a la banda HU y nuestro género Hunnu Rock.
En relación a tu música, usas varios instrumentos tradicionales, pero el resultado es un sonido muy moderno, ¿Cómo conseguís eso?
En realidad, mucha música mongol tiene raíces de rock y con una mezcla de ritmos modernos podemos crear este sonido moderno.
Todos estamos esperando ansiosamente vuestro primer álbum de larga duración, ¿Alguna noticia al respecto?
Estamos en las etapas finales de afinar el álbum y nos aseguramos de hacer el mejor debut para nuestros fans. Actualmente no tenemos la fecha de lanzamiento exacta, pero será pronto, en 2019. El nombre del álbum es "The Gereg" y consta de 9 pistas, incluidos los 2 singles "YuveYuve Yu" y "Wolf Totem".
Y después de eso, ¿planes para una gira?
Definitivamente queremos ver a todos los fans que podamos, así que los planes para una gira están en progreso.
Finalmente, ¿qué le dirías a las personas que están leyendo esta entrevista y a tus fanáticos españoles en general?
Nos gustaría agradecer a todos nuestros fans el apoyo que hemos recibido de España. ¡Estamos muy contentos de compartir más de nuestra música en 2019 y esperamos tocar algún día para nuestros fans españoles!

- Actually, it seems that a revival of tradition has emerged all over the world and specially in Asia, isn't it?
A: Yes, it is.
- I've heard about some festivals in China on Mongol music with a very surprising success, isn't it?
A: The last few years there are a lot of Mongol rock bands coming out of Inner Mongolia. They’ve been having a lot success not only in China but everywhere in the world.
- How important is history, and specially history of the Hunnu people for your music?
A: The Hunnu people aka the Huns are very important part of our history. That’s why we named the band the HU and our genre Hunnu Rock.
- In relation to your music, you use several traditional instruments, but the result is a very modern sound, How do you get that?
A: Actually, a lot of Mongolian music has rock roots and with a mixture of modern beats we can create this modern sound.
- We all are waiting anxiously your first full length album, Any news about it?
A: We are at the final stages of fine tuning the album and we’re making sure we make the best debut for our fans. We don’t currently have the exact release date but it will be soon, in 2019. The name of the album is“The Gereg” and it consists of 9 tracks, including previously released 2 singles “YuveYuve Yu” and “Wolf Totem.”
- And after that, any plans for a tour?
A: We definitely want to see as many of our fans as we can, so plans for a tour is in progress.
- Finally, what would you say to people who is reading this interview and your Spanish fans in general?
A: We would like to thank all of our fans and the support we’ve received from Spain. We are excited to share more of our music in 2019 and we look forward to one day playing for our Spanish fans!
