SERIOUS BLACK esta en un momento clave para la banda en todos los niveles, es un grupo en pleno crecimiento, recibiendo excelentes criticas, tanto de sus trabajos discográficos como de sus conciertos. Una muestra del nivel compositivo en el que se encuentran es el hecho de que en menos de 1 año ya tienen listo su nuevo trabajo, que editarán el próximo mes de agosto, unos días después de su show en Leyendas Del rock. De todo ello vamos a hablar con Mario Lochert (bajo).
Vuestro último trabajo, el segundo en vuestra carrera, fue publicado el pasado mes de setiembre de 2016. ¿Cómo ha ido el álbum? ¿Se cumplieron las expectativas?
Mario: Bueno, para mí: ¡“Mirrorworld” fue un muy buen trabajo! Hicimos nuestro primer tour como cabezas de cartel por el centro de Europa y, ¡fue un gran éxito hacer esos shows ya con un segundo trabajo! Pero ahora es tiempo de “Magic” y su explosión.
Habéis anunciado un nuevo lanzamiento para finales de agosto. En menos de un año tendréis en la calle vuestro tercer trabajo “Magic”. Sois una banda que está consiguiendo muy buenas críticas y está en pleno crecimiento… La edición tan pronto de un nuevo trabajo es por algún motivo en concreto, o por aprovechar esta línea ascendente?
Mario: Todo es un poco extraño, nos lo pasamos muy bien haciendo música juntos y las ideas e inspiración son como una cascada de energía. Durante la mezcla de “Magic” dejamos anotadas varias ideas sobre el cuarto disco y así es como una banda debe trabajar. Solo queremos rockear y cuando nos juntamos, no somos la típica banda ya que somos de diferentes países, nos divertimos más al ver como el otro está ardiendo por hacer música entre nosotros. Es por eso que las reviews dicen que somos una banda que nos gusta tocar en directo y que puedes sentir el espíritu de nuestra música. Estamos muy contentos viendo que el sentimiento nos es devuelto.
Escuchando el tema adelanto de “Magic”, “Burn Witches Burn”, aparentemente, en la parte musical sigue la línea de “Mirrorworld”. Hay en este álbum algún cambio en vuestro sonido? Puedes profundizar en como es “Magic”?
Mario: Podemos llamarlo volver a las raíces; pienso que es un tanto diferente a los otros lanzamientos. Hemos grabado como hace 20 años, usando material y formas de por entonces, para hacer que el álbum suene realmente como un disco de rock. Para mi “Magic” es un Milestone personal.
Viendo el video liryc de “Burn Witches Burn” y el título del álbum, “Magic”. Cuál es la línea general de las letras del disco?
Mario: ¡Hemos creado un musical de metal! De la primera a la última canción, “Magic” es una historia de amor, tragedia, conjuros, magia negra y blanca.... ¡escuchadlo!
Se anuncia una edición limitada en doble digipak, con el directo "Live In Atlanta", el CD acústico "First Light", 22 cartas del tarot, una ouija y un certificado de autenticidad. Puedes comentarnos un poco esto?
Mario: Como he dicho, estamos ante un disco conceptual y hemos creado una historia completa. La bruja está ardiendo y por supuesto, las brujas usan cartas y tableros. Todo ha sido diseñado especialmente para nosotros. El directo en Atlanta fue grabado el año pasado en Estados Unidos porque hubo un impresionante sold out y siempre hemos querido hacer un disco en acústico.... así que hemos hecho 3 discos en menos de 9 meses. Todo debe ser algo que cualquier fan debe tener, todas las influencias musicales al mismo tiempo (estudio, directo y acústico).
Habéis contado con algunos invitados para este disco. Que nos puedes contar al respecto?
Mario: Bueno, nosotros necesitábamos una mano, una voz femenina así que... preguntamos a unos buenos amigos y algunas bandas si querían unirse a nosotros en el disco. Todo el mundo estuvo en él y nos lo pasamos en grande todos juntos.
En agosto estaréis en el Leyendas del Rock. ¿Conocéis el festival? ¿Qué significa para vosotros estar en el cartel?
Mario: Si, por supuesto que conozco el festival. Hace 4 años estuve con BELPHEGOR como técnico de sonido, ahí conocí a los organizadores y fue el principio de una buena relación. El cartel es siempre grande y estoy deseando encontrarme con viejos amigos como David de MEGADETH, Hansi de BLIND GUARDIAN y muchos más.
¿Qué podemos esperar de vuestro concierto? ¿Estáis pensando en hacer algo especial?
Mario: Si las personas nos conocen, saben que siempre damos el 100% sobre el escenario. Cada show es especial para nosotros y aquellos que no nos han visto en directo que se pasen, seguro que les gustamos. Sobre si habrá algo especial solo te puedo decir una cosa: sorpresa, sorpresa.
En setiembre volveréis a España con HERMAN FRANK, MY OWN GHOST y STORMHAMMER. ¿Cuáles son vuestras expectativas para el próximo tour europeo y para “Magic”?
Mario: Realmente tengo ganas de embarcarme en este tour, ¡estamos trabajando duro por hacer un show muy especial! Madrid y Barcelona serán nuestras primeras fechas en España como cabeza de cartel y estamos muy excitados por ello. También por estar en la carretera con HERMAN FRANK, el ex-ACCEPT con su banda que tiene como integrantes a Rick de MASTERPLAN, André Hilgers que tocó en RAGE y Muelli de JADED HEART... ¡es asombroso! No podemos esperar más por una noche llena de rock y metal.

Your last work “Mirrorworld”, the second in your career, was published the last month of september 2016. How worked the album? Were your expectations met?
Mario : well , for me espacially, was Mirrorworld a very good album! We did our first headliner tour through the middel of europe and it was a big success, to play headliner shows with the 2nd album already ! But now its time for Magic - and this is a blast 🙂
You have announced one new cd for the end of august. In less than a year you will have in the street your third work “Magic”. You are a band with a lot of great reviews and rising in reputation every day. Do you publish as soon as the album for a specific reason? Or is it to take advantage of the context?
Mario : this is a little strange, we have so much fun to make music together and the ideas and inspirations are like a waterfall of energie. during the mixing of magic - we already wrote for the 4th album some ideas and this is how a band should work . we just wanna rock together - and when we meet - (we are not like a usual band , the members are in different countries) it makes so much fun to ssee each other that we are burning to make music together. This is also what the reviews saying we are a band who love to play live together and u can feel the spirit in our music. we are happy that we get this feedback!
Listening the first song of “Magic”: “Burn Witches Burn” apparently have the same musical part of “Mirroworld”. There will be some change in the sound of the new album? Can you tell us how is “Magic?
Mario: lets call it back to the roots, i think from the sound its different to other releases . we recorded like 20 years ago, we used no triggers, raw guitars, tube desks, old microphones to make
a real sounding album what rocks. For me Magic is a personal Milestone ..... 😉
Watching the lyric video of “Burn Witches Burn” and the name of the album: “Magic”. What is the line of the letters of the new songs?
Mario: We created a Metal Musical! Magic is from the first song till the last 1 story about love, tragedy, spells, white and black magic.... listen to it !

Mario: Like i said its a concept album with a complete story , the witch is burning and of course witches use cards and witchboards.... this is all designed especially for us.
The live in atlanta we recorded last year in USA cause it was an amazing sold out show and an unplugged album we always wanted to do .... so we did 3 albums in not even 9 month 🙂
All in all for a fan its a must have ... so much musical influences from one band at the same time ( studio, live and accustic)
You have some guest in this album. What can you tell us about this?
Mario: well we needed a quire, a female voice and so on ... so we asked some good friends and bands if they want to join us on this album. everybody was in and we had a lot of fun together.
In august you will be in Leyendas del Rock of Spain. Do you know the festival? What means for you being in the lineup of this year?
Mario: Yes of course i know the festival . 4 years ago i was witth Belphegor as foh engineer on the festival - there i met the organisators and it was the beginning of a good friendship.
The line up is great as always and i really looking forward to meet some old friends, like David from Megadeth, Hansi from Blind Guardian and much more.
What can we expect about your gig? Are you thinking in do something special?
Mario : If people know us , they know we give alsways 100% on stage. Each show is a special one for us and those who never saw us live - check it out you will like it about specials ....... supprise supprise 😉
In september, you will return to Spain with HERMAN FRANK, MY OWN GHOST and STORMHAMMER. What are your expectations about the next european tour and “Magic”?
Mario : Iam really looking forward to this tour . we are working hard on a special show ! Madrid and Barcelona are our first Headlinershows in Spain so we are excited about it.
Also to be on the road with Herman Frank - ex Accept and his band (feat. Rick from Masterplan, Andre Hilgers - Rage and Muelli of Jaded Heart) its awesome. People can expact a full night with Rock and Metal in its best .
