English Text Below.

En aquel momento nació The Unity.

M.E.: Porque no queremos perder tiempo.

TNT: ¿Cuándo podremos tener nuevo álbum de The Unity? ¿Tenéis nuevo material ahora mismo o aun no?

Jajaja

ENGLISH TEXT

TNT: The Unity is a new band but you all are experienced musicians and all of you are involved, or were involved, in other projects. Who had the idea to create a new Project and how it was created?

Michael Ehré: When I joined Gamma Ray back in 2012 Henjo and me often talked about recording music that didn´t fit into the Gamma Ray-style. We both are fans of bands like Rainbow, Deep Purple, Whitesnake and all the other classic hardrock stuff. As soon as we started to work on the songs we realised that we needed to form a band. At this point I was still in a band called Love.Might.Kill but nothing really happened at that moment and one of our two guitarists left the band, so we decided to ask the other members to join us. at this point The Unity was born.

TNT: Why this name?

M.E.: Nowadays it´s really hard to find a bandname. We had tons of ideas but unfortunatelly all these names were in use by other bands. One day our guitarplayer Setf wrote an E-Mail and said this band is a really unity for him. I thought “Wow! This is exactly what we need!” and we decided to name the band The Unity.

TNT: The band is clasified as Power metal but listening your music I think you are closer  hard rock than power metal. What do you tink about it? How do you difine your style?

M.E.: That´s true! As I said before the idea was to make music that has its roots in the classical stuff., which is more hardrock than metal. I would define our music as a mix between hardrock and melodic metal.

TNT: Although The Unity is a band recently created, I think it was just three years ago, you have two LP out in two years, “The unity” and “Rise”. Why did you edit two records so fast?

M.E.: Because we don´t want to lose time. We´re not twenty years old anymore but we want to establish The Unity in the world wide rock and metalscene. That takes time and some albums. Unfortunatelly we don´t have that much time anymore but we have a lot of good music! As we had a lot of good material there was no reason to wait two or more years for our second record.

TNT: How did the fans received your two albums?

M.E.: Fantastic so far! We got awesomw reviews worldwide, did three tours and a lot of festivals. We could see our fanbase grew from show to show.  We were voted as Newcome Of The Year in several music magazines and our second album “Rise” even entered the german charts, so we couldn´t be happier at the moment!

TNT: Looking “Rise” it seems to me a very good job, on the line of your first job but more elaborated. How was the writing process of its? What were your goals with “Rise”?

M.E.: The goal was to make an album at least as good as our debut and establish our style. The writing process was much easier than expected in terms of composing good music. It was harder to chosse the songs for the album because we had more material than we needed. Surely it was also hard because of the timing but in the end everything went well.

TNT: Wich are your favourite songs in “Rise”, or the songs do you think better represents the band’s essence?

M.E.: This is always hard to tell because in the end I love all the songs on the album. Every song is a kind of child for us and if you have kids you know that you don´t love kid more than the other, right? As I think that we have a quite wide range there is not that one song that represents the band´s essence. With “Last Betrayal” we have a song that has its roots in powermetal, while a song like “The Storm” is even a bit AOR-like.

TNT: “Rise” contains three live bonus tracks and you seems harder band live than in studio, more powerful. Is it the Unity’s trademark ¿ Why this differences about your studio Jobs and your live performances?

M.E.: Maybe this is because our live shows always have a certain level of power. It´s still Rock´n´Roll, isn´t it, hahaha...but for us this is something that comes naturally, it isn´t forced in any way.

TNT: In your line up there are two Gamma Ray members: Michael Ehré and Henjo Richter. Now seems Kai Hansen have activated his band again. How will this affect The Unity’s future?

M.E.: With Gamma Ray we will play some festivals this year. After that Kai will focus on Helloween again, so we this won´t affect The Unity at all.

TNT: The music industry changed a lot along the years and that have avantatges and disavantatges too. Now the bands have to be on tour all time to be recognized by the people. Did internet change the industry to a worst music world? How do you live this changes?

M.E.: Hard to say...on the one hand the internet changed the music industry in a bad way, as music lost its worth. Everybody is able to get music almost for free, if not for free. For musicians this is a really bad situation. I always compare this with someone who steals stuff from the supermarket. On the other hand musician are able to use the internet for their workflow. We are able to communicate in an easy way with each other, even if we live in different countries. The producing of an album is also much cheaper and also easier nowadays...which also has a good and a bad side...but that´s another thing...

TNT: Next august you will be playing in the Ripollet Rock Festival. What do you know about this festival?

M.E.: I know that this is a festival made by fans for fans! That´s why we´re really looking forward to play there.

TNT: What mean for you to be in this festival?

M.E.: This show marks our very first appearance in your beautiful country what makes it very, very special for us! We received a lot of messages from people who want us to play there and we can´t wait to meet our fans at the Ripollet Rock Festival!

TNT: What can we expect about your show there? Could we see any new things?

M.E.: though we started to work on our third album I guess we won´t manage to play an unreleased song. This is a bit too early. Be sure that we will give 110% because this show is very special for us!

TNT: I guess this will be your first time in Spain, aren’t right? How do you see the spanish audience?

M.E.: I often played in Spain with Metalium, Gamma Ray and other bands. The spanish audience is always very enthuastic and this often led us to our best performances. It´s a give and take and I love that! That´s why we make music!

TNT: After Ripollet rock could be posible we can see you headlining a tour in Spain?

M.E.: That would be fantastic and to be honest that´s what we´re aiming for. But first of all we have to release our next album and see our possibilities. It´s not only the band who decides that, as we need promoters to belive in us and book us. We´re still a new band and have to act carefully otherwise it can end in frustration, hahaha...

TNT: When can we have new The Unity  studio album? Do you have new material by now or not yet?

M.E.: We´re working on the album. The plan is to release it in the first half of 2020.

TNT: Thanks for your time and patience attending TNT Radiorock and see you in Ripollet.

M.E.: I have to thank you! See you in Ripollet – first row, hahaha
