Entrevista con BLACK BONE, hard rock holandés
Desde Eindhoven nos llega la banda de hard rock Black Bone, que regresa a España el próximo mes de enero para seguir explotando su última obra hasta la fecha “Blessing in Disguise“, editado en septiembre de 2015 bajo los auspicios de SPV/Steamhammer.
El joven trío formado por Steef van den Bogaard (guitarras / voces), Sven Hompes (bajo / voz) y Jules Eck (batería), llevan unos 8 años juntos, desde 2008, y a los tres les gustan bandas como Guns N’Roses, AC / DC y Motörhead, fuente de inspiración e influencias. Comenzaron tocando covers, más tarde comenzaron a preparar composiciones originales y su estilo comenzó a desarrollarse.
Su regreso a España será para Enero de 2017, y estas serán las fechas y ciudades;

Primero de todo, muchas gracias por tener tiempo para responder a las preguntas. Vuelta a España, varias fechas por todo el territorio español y alguna en Portugal, ¿cómo está funcionando el tour de “Blessing in Disguise”? ¿Qué habéis aprendido durante todos éstos kilómetros de asfalto?
¡Gracias por tenernos amigo! Tocar, tocar y tocar. Es lo que hicimos los últimos dos años. ¡Lo amamos, tío! La gira 'Blessing in Disguise' comienza primero con un par de giras de apoyo por Europa en el tour bus con una banda más grande. Funciona bastante bien después de los tours de soporte. Hemos intentado algunos conciertos en Europa y está creciendo en este momento, así que estamos muy contentos con el resultado. ¡Estamos ansiosos por llegar a España y Portugal en las próximas semanas!
“Blessing in Disguise” salió en 2015 y tuvo grandes críticas. Personalmente, es un auténtico disparo en la cabeza. 100 % rock y 200 % energía. El álbum ya ha crecido un poco, ¿sois del tipo de persona que estáis satisfechos con todo el disco o veis cosas que cambiaríais?
Sí, las reviews han sido geniales. Siempre está bien leer que a la gente le gusta tu nuevo bebé jajaja. Pero sí, estamos contentos con nuestro último disco. En ese momento, realmente nos gustaba tener un álbum bastante crudo, entonces creo que puedes escucharlo en la grabación. Pero nuestro nuevo disco se basará más en nuestro primer disco con un sonido y producción masiva.
Obviamente sois una banda de directo más que de estudio. Escucho vuestras canciones y no pienso en el compás ni en la producción. Me sucede como con Kadavar por ejemplo. ¿Qué buscáis a la hora de grabar un álbum además de que suene lo mejor posible?
A pesar de que nos gusta hacer el sonido lo mejor posible, nos gusta conseguir la energía que tenemos en directo también en el disco. Así que golpea la batería tan fuerte como puedas, deja que las cuerdas se quemen y ¡grita/canta como un perro sediento! Así es como nos gusta hacerlo 🙂
Las canciones de vuestro último álbum tienen mucha rabia y cierta negatividad, ¿las nuevas ideas para las próximas canciones qué línea están siguiendo? ¿Cómo es vuestro proceso de creación para las canciones?
Las nuevas canciones serán más sobre las últimas giras que hemos hecho. Historias del tour como una canción fría como "Nashville Rain" y "Bitch Outta Town", pero también letras muy personales como "One in a Million", que trata sobre mi mejor amiga que tristemente falleció después de probar éxtasis por primera vez. ¡Pero es va a ser un disco de rock’n’roll con mucha energía de nuevo!
Con todo lo sucedido en este 2017 en USA, Palestina, Corea del Norte, Rusia, Siria, etc…, ¿Sería necesario un triple disco para cantar a todas las barbaridades de este mundo en sólo un año?
Jajaja, nunca se sabe, pero aún no tenemos letras sobre esas cosas estúpidas.
Estáis con un sello bastante bueno y con una posibilidad enorme para poder llegar a todos los lugares de Europa y más allá. ¿Cómo es la relación con Steamhammer / SPV?
Sí, después de mezclar “Blessing in Disguise”, a nuestro productor realmente le gustó y pensó que encajaríamos realmente con SPV y a la gente de SPV le gustó mucho nuestro nuevo álbum, por lo que quisieron contratarnos. Estamos realmente con ellos, están haciendo muchas cosas buenas en medios y demás cosas.
El año pasado estuvisteis de gira por España presentando este último álbum. ¿Cómo fue la experiencia de tocar por primera vez en España y como se siente Black Bone al tocar por primera vez ante un público desconocido?
España es increíble. Los españoles están de verdad dentro de un gran espectáculo de rock y tienen una gran fiesta loca, y eso es lo que realmente nos gusta hacer.
Parece hora de meterse al estudio para el tercer álbum. ¿Cuáles son los planes a corto plazo para la banda?
Sí, todavía estamos escribiendo con nuestros traseros para nuestro tercer álbum. Pero esperamos que en unos meses vayamos al estudio. Estamos en contacto con un productor muy bueno de Bélgica.
Al igual que vuestra música, vuestros directos son igual de potentes. ¿Qué podemos esperar en vuestros conciertos de Enero aquí en España?
¡Black Bone está influenciado por Motorhead, Guns N Roses y AC/DC con mucha energía sobre el escenario a quien le gusta pasar un buen rato con todos!

First of all, thank you very much for having time to answer the questions. Back to Spain, several dates throughout the Spanish territory and another one in Portugal, how is the "Blessing in Disguise" tour working? What have you learned during all these kilometers?
Thanks for having us dude! Playing, playing, playing. That’s what we did the last two years. We love it man! The ‘Blessing in Disguise’ tour starts first with a couple support tours in Europe with nightliners with a bigger band. That works out pretty well after the support tours. We tried some headlining shows in Europe and it’s growing right now, so we’re pretty happy with the result! Looking forward to hit Spain and Portugal the upcoming weeks!
"Blessing in Disguise" came out in 2015 and had great reviews. Personally, it's a real shot in the head. 100% rock and 200% energy. The album has already grown a bit, are you the kind of person that you are satisfied with the whole album or do you see things that you would change?
Yes, the reviews were great. It’s always nice to read that the people like your new baby boy haha. But yes, we’re happy with our latest record. At that time, we really liked to have a pretty raw album, so I think you can hear it on the record. But the our new record will be more back to our first record with a massive sound and production.
Obviously you are a live band rather than a studio band. I listen to your songs and I do not think about the beat or the production. It happens to me as with Kadavar for example. What do you look for when recording an album besides making it sound as good as possible?
Besides we like to make the sound as good as possible we like to get the energy what we’ve got live also on the record. So hit the drums as hard as you can, let the strings burn and scream/sing as a thirsty dog! That’s how we like to do it. 🙂
The songs of your last album have a lot of anger and some negativity, the new ideas for the next songs which line are you following? How is your creation process for the songs?
The new songs will be more about the last tours what we’ve did. Tour stories like a song cold ‘Nashville Rain’ and ‘Bitch Outta Town’ but also really personal lyrics like ‘One in a Million’ what is about my best friend lady who sadly past away after using XTC for the first time.. But it’s gonna be a rock n roll record with a lot of energy again!
With everything that happened in this 2017 in USA, Palestine, North Korea, Russia, Syria, etc ..., Would it be necessary a triple CD to sing to all the atrocities of this world in just one year?
Haha never know, but we’ve got no lyrics yet about those stupid things.
You have a pretty good record label and a huge chance to get to all the places in Europe and beyond. How is the relationship with Steamhammer / SPV?
Yes after we mixed “Blessing in Disguise”, our producer really liked it and he thought we really will fit with SPV and the people at SPV really liked our new album so they liked to sign us. We’re really with them, they are doing a lot of great things for us in de media and stuff.
Last year you were on tour in Spain promoting this latest album. How was the experience of playing for the first time in Spain and how does Black Bone feel when playing for the first time before an unknown audience?
Spain is awesome, the Spanish people are really into a great rock show and having a crazy good party, and that’s we really like to do.
It seems time to get into the studio for the third album. What are the short-term plans for the band?
Yes we’re still writing our asses off for our third album. But we hope in a few months we’ll hit the studio. We’re in touch with a pretty cool producer from Belgium.
Like your music, your live are just as powerful. What can we expect at your January shows here in Spain?
Black Bone influenced by Motorhead, Guns N Roses and AC/DC with a lot off energy on stage who likes to have a pretty good time with everybody!
